This brigade id named of Abbas bin Ali bin Abi Talib (PBUH), and is a Shiite military force that emerged during its participation in the war on Syria. Liwa Abu al-Fadl al-Abbas entered early in Syria war and stood by the Syrian regime since 2012 under the pretext of defending the shrine of Sayyida Zainab in Damascus countryside, especially since the shrine is located in an area under the control of the Free Army.
